I make good money but feel like I'm throwing most of it away and I don't even know where it goes! I'm not even sure how to do a budget. What are some tips that have worked for you as far as making a budget and sticking to it? Thanks!

I am really tight on money right now and it seems as if EVERY MONTH something comes up-a kids fundraiser-birthday party-etc.etc. and I dont want my kids to miss out on the fun of the birthday party just because mom cant afford to buy an extravagant birthday gift. Any ideas on low priced gifts but are not cheap as in falling apart ? I feel bad being the cheap one at the birthday party but you kind of have to look out foryour kids first. FOOD ON THE TABLE.

I already have done a personal budget in Excel - but are there any budget programs out there where I can type in mine and my husband's pay dates and amounts of pay, and then have the program calculate what can be paid out of each check that leaves me with some money left over? I'm horrible at budgeting and I always pay my bills and then never have any money left over until my next check. Help!!! Thanks.

We recently bought a house, and have a combined income of 100K. Yet my wife still spends as though we have no mortgage. How can i talk to her about a budget without getting in a fight. As i would rather invest in the home than non essential items that she buys.
I just want her to see that we can save as we can pay the bills but little goes into savings. I would much rather us spend the money reinvesting in the house, new windows, and paint. It's just hard to keep her attention when discussing a budget.
